What the patient receives

Report values

TSH   6.8 mIU/L
ref 0.4–4.0  ↑ HIGH

FT4   0.71 ng/dL
ref 0.8–1.8  ↓ LOW

Anti-TPO
420 IU/mL
ref <35  ↑↑ HIGH

Patient's explanation

TSH — Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
Your brain is sending extra signals to make your thyroid work harder. A high TSH usually means the thyroid isn't producing enough hormone on its own.
FT4 — Free Thyroxine
This is the thyroid hormone circulating in your blood. Yours is below the normal range, which confirms the thyroid is underproducing even with the extra signals.
Anti-TPO Antibodies
Your immune system is producing antibodies that attack thyroid tissue. At 420 IU/mL — over twelve times the upper limit — this strongly points to Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Question to ask your doctor: "My TSH is high, my FT4 is low, and my Anti-TPO is very elevated. Do I need thyroid hormone replacement?"

Sample only. Output reflects the patient's actual values.
